Jokowi encourages local govt to start providing disabled-friendly facilities. REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) observed public facilities at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Sports Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday. He checked the state of public facilities in the area of the GBK sports complex, especially those used to support people with disabilities. "We want to check on facilities for people with disabilities in GBK, including the musholla (Islamic prayer room), sidewalk, and access for visitors," he remarked. Jokowi has encouraged local governments in every province, city, and district in the country to start providing some disabled-friendly facilities at public areas. "In the near future, all buildings and transportation facilities in Jakarta will be made 'friendly' for disabled people. The minister of public works and housing (PUPR) and the governor of Jakarta have informed me about all the things that need to be improved," Jokowi noted. Jokowi, accompanied by several ministers and Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan, observed the public facilities at the GBK Sports Complex and the surrounding areas for about an hour. Let's block ads!
